Day 01| Paro
Your flight to Bhutan (Paro) is considered to be world’s most spectacular flight crossing over beautiful Himalayas. If one is staying near the window side, one can see Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makula, and other high peaks such as Jumolhari. You will be welcome by green beautiful Paro valley with eye catching gigantic dzong (fortress). Upon reaching, Bhutan Inner Peace Travel’s Representative will be there to escort you. Transfer to your hotel.
One can wander on your own to town or stroll streets or relax in your hotel.
Overnight: Paro | Altitude: 2200m
Day 02| Paro-Genekha-Gur
Start with early breakfast and drive towards the Geynizampa (suspension bridge) where you will be greeted with trekking crew members waiting for your arrival. Upon reaching, interact sessions with crew members and then proceed towards first camp site area. You will be served packed hot lunch on the way. You will be ascending gradually uphill through the blue pines and Oak forest and coming across stone staircases along the way. Take a rest at the huge rock platform, from which there is a picturesque view of the valley.
Day 03| Gur-Labthama
12km, 5 hours
Today’s trek takes us across meadows where wild asparagus and other small plants grow, and if taking this trek in the spring, you will feel you are walking over carpets of flowers. The first pass, marked by a large cairn gives a spectacular view of the whole Dagala range, alpine meadows and yak herders’ camps. We will lunch at a nearby yak herder’s camp. After lunch we will walk across hills and over meadows, ending the day at Yutsho Lake.
Day 4| Labathama – Pangkha
8km, 4 hours
Walk for 20 minutes upwards before beginning the descent at around 4,460m. There will be splendid views of the Himalayas on the descent. Your guide will help you in identifying individual peaks such as Everest, Kanchenjunga, Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake, Tserimgang, Khangbum, Masagang, Tsendegang and Gangchenta. Himalayan monal pheasants are a common sight. Overnight camp on a grassy meadow at Pangkha.
Day 5| Pangkha-Chokum.
This day involves the crossing of several increasingly impressive passes. You will see several varieties of the blue poppy (if trekking June-July) and also many mountain birds along the way. After lunch, resume your journey towards last campsite.
Day 6| Chokam – Chamgang-Thimphu
7 km 4 hours
Today you will be dropping down to lower elevation and an hour’s gradual climb brings us to the top of the last ridge on the Dagala range from where there is a spectacular view of Thimphu valley below. Further descending down about 2 hours you will reach to small village of Chamgang. Farwell to your trekking crew members. There your car will be there to pick you up and transfer to Thimphu.
