Mongar

It is a seat of administrative division and it is located in the eastern Bhutan with a population of 2969 habitants. The elevation of the place is 1648m. Variant forms of spelling for Mongar or in other languages: Mongar Dzong, Монгар (ru), Mongar, Mongar, Mongar Dzong, Монгар.

Mongar Dzong      

Before the dzong was built sometime in the 1950s, Zhongkhar dzong, which is in ruins now, was the administrative centre. The town of Mongar is located on a hill. It serves as a gateway to Lhuentse, another district, 77 kilometers from Mongar which is notably famed for its weavers and special textiles and fabrics. The Kurtoe region of Lhuentse is also the heartland of the Royal Dynasty.
